Dr. Khaled Madkour

Dr. Khaled Mohamed Madkour is an internationally certified expert in Carbon Footprint (ISO 14064-1/2/3), Life Cycle Assessment (ISO 14067 / EPD), Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) reporting, Sustainability, and Decarbonization Strategies. With 21 years of academic expertise (Ph.D. & MPhil) in carbon footprint, climate change, and greenhouse gas (GHG) studies, and 17 years of consulting experience, he has worked extensively with international organizations, multinational industries, and top-tier professional services firms worldwide.
He is a Certified Sustainability Professional (CSP) from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an accredited consultant by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for carbon footprint, LCA, and sustainability, and a Life Cycle Assessment Certified Professional (LCACP) from One Click LCA. He is also a member of the UNEP Life Cycle Initiative and an LCA Practitioner at EPD International AB.
Dr. Madkour has collaborated with major organizations, including the EBRD, the World Bank, MGM Climate Developers, and TerGo. Notably, his work with TerGo has led to the development of pioneering tools and projects such as:
- TERbit – the world’s first app to track individual carbon reductions
- Carbon footprint calculators for individuals, events, corporates, and flights
- A sequestration project in Belize providing premium VER carbon offsets
- The IFCC Standard for Afforestation and Reforestation Projects supporting small-scale agroforestry globally
His consultancy portfolio spans carbon credit and offsets projects, including solar PV in Puerto Rico, REDD+ in Colombia and Brazil, plastic recycling initiatives, RDF and waste management, CHP and tri-generation systems, oil & gas sector decarbonization, and cement industry climate strategies.
An accomplished academic, Dr. Madkour is an Associate Professor at Ain Shams University and NOVA University de Lisboa, with research focusing on air quality modeling, climate change impacts, and satellite-based environmental monitoring. His Ph.D. examined “Modeling Air Quality and GHGs in Egypt using GIS and Remote Sensing,” while his MPhil explored climate and water quality dynamics in the Aswan High Dam Lake using remote sensing techniques.
